R.O.C.K. Internship

Purpose - The purpose of the R.O.C.K. Internship Program is to create a learning environment that will train up future leaders in Christian camping ministry. Royal Ridges’ mission is to move one step closer to Christ by reaching the unsaved with the gospel of Jesus Christ through love and personal example. We hope that through this internship, you can help us accomplish our mission.

Position Description - Interns will spend time applying their academic knowledge into a working horse camp facility, while learning what it means to be a servant leader. They will help care for horses and instruct campers as they build their horsemanship skills. Interns may be given opportunities to be in leadership through activities and programs.  


Responsibilities - Intern responsibilities will include: assist in herd management and daily horse care including feeding; teach horse lessons; lead trail rides; administer medications as directed; maintain a safe horse facility; assist with the care of tack and equipment; design and implement an approved  project that benefits the equine department; interact with guest/parent relations prior to and during the end of the week horse show; attend all scheduled meetings; assist assigned camp supervisor as requested.


Qualifications - CHA certification (RRR will certify if needed); current First Aid & CPR certifications for duration of internship; have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; have enthusiasm for contributing to a learning and teaching environment; working knowledge of Royal Ridges Retreats’ policies and procedures (upon training); have a favorable criminal background check; be enrolled in college/university pursuing an applicable degree (undergraduates, graduate students, or equivalent professionals are welcome to apply); have a commitment to all responsibilities and expectations; a servant’s heart and flexibility are encouraged.


Hours - Our summer internship program runs thirteen weeks from May 2oth through August 17th. During summer camp, interns may be scheduled between 30-45 hours per week. Hours may include weekday and weekend hours.


Benefits - Internships with Royal Ridges Retreat provide housing, food, a stipend as well as valuable hands on experience. The R.O.C.K. Equine Internship will provide applicants with a strong background in areas required for success in equine ministry and management within a camp ministry setting. Course credit may apply.
