Program Information

 

 Royal Ridges Retreat provides a horsemanship program which addresses safe handling as well as riding and care of the horse.

Fall 2017 Lessons will start the week of September 18 

Winter 2018 Lessons will start the week of January 8

Spring 2018 Lessons will start the week of March 26

 

Horsemanship Classes Include:

 Ride time- Begins with safety and confidence then progresses along with the rider to advanced horsemanship skills. You can ride either Western or English.

 Horse science- Riders learn safe, productive ground handling skills and become responsible for the care of their horse.

 Fellowship Time- Includes discussion and topics relating the Bible to horsemanship.

 Group Classes - There must be at least 3 students to schedule a group class.

 

 **Lessons are purchased in terms.** 

**Each term must be paid in full before beginning the term.**

Cowpoke Group Class- $100 for Each Term

 

 

Beginning Western Introduction to Riding

Ages 4-7 

1 Hour Time Block

 

These young horse lovers learn to be safe and confident around horses while leading, grooming and learning basic riding skills.  Classes will begin unmounted and progress towards mounted.  Lesson includes 20-minute ride time, horse science and fellowship time.  Adult person (over 18 years of age) participation is required at each lesson to help with leading and supporting the rider.

 

NOTE:  If interested in a private lessons for your cowpoke:  The lesson will be one hour in length for 10 weeks at $200/term.  Please contact the office for scheduling.

 

 

Beginning Horsemanship Group Classes- $200 for Each Term

 

Beginning Western Introduction to Riding

Ages 8-14

1 1/2 Hour Time Block

 

Learn basic horse safety, gain confidence and increase your skills as a rider and your knowledge of horses.  Includes a 45 minute ride time, horse science and fellowship time. Classes are offered in terms. Each new term repeats the same curriculum and only progress through basic horsemanship skills. Enroll in this class to get a good start with horses. Class may be taken repeatedly to gain more confidence.

 

 

Private Lessons- $300 for Each Term

 

 

Individual or Paired Personal Riding Instruction

Ages 4 and Over

1 1/2 Hour Time Block 

 

Tailor the lesson to your specific needs and interests.  Work with an available instructor to structure a curriculum that is right for you.  Beginning to intermediate, Western and English flatwork classes available. Includes a 45-minute ride time, horse science and fellowship time. 

 

 

Roy's Christian Riders (Apprentices and Interns) - Enroll in Lessons or $100 a Term

Apprenticeship

Ages 8 to 12

2 Hour Time Block

 

This is where they will start learning how to take care of horses, barn, and equipment (such as tack, bridle, grooming supplies ect). Learn how to ground work a horse, learn some basic horse first aid, and be trained to feed horses and volunteer for group weekends. Curriculum is fitted to the age group and each meeting they will have horse time and Bible study time.

 

Internship

Ages 13  to 18

2 Hour Time Block

 

This is where they will learn how to take care of horses, barn and equipment (such as tack, bridle, grooming supplies ect.). In addition they will  learn basic horse aid, learn how to take care of the barn, learn how to be professional, work towards becoming summer staff, learn how to supervise and lead others, and learn how to effectivly assist in lessons or on trails. Also with this portion of the program they will be assigned a project horse that best first them where they will learn how to effectivily work the horse to Royal Ridges standards so that the horse will be camper ready for summer.
